ABOUT Betty Zhang

Hi, I am Betty, and I was born in China. Now is my fourth year in Canada, and I am a first-year student at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. I can speak both English and Mandarin fluently.

I started playing the piano when I was five years old. Then I kept practicing on my own until now. I play classical music most of the time on the piano, but I can also play jazz! I spent two years in the school jazz band, and I gained lots of fantastic experience in jazz. I started playing the guitar when I was fifteen, and I am good at teaching and helping understand basic music theory. Other than that, I use the fingerpicking technique to play some songs. I play the cello and drums, and a traditional Chinese instrument called Guzheng at the same time.

I love music, and it has been a part of my life. Music makes my life so beautiful and full of energy and enthusiasm. I enjoy it firstly; then I want to share my happiness with others! I always believe that learning skills and theories are a part of music, but the most important thing is to enjoy it. I want to be your friend, and we should have some fun with multiple instruments.
